“And what would it be called?” he asked.
“Haven’t decided yet,” she said. “Maybe ‘Harper’s Place’ or something like that. Simple, straight to the point.” She laughed. “Or maybe ‘Grandma’s Kitchen’ to honor my grandmother. She taught me everything.”
“I’d eat there every day,” Andrew said.
“You’re just saying that because I gave you a discount on the coffee,” she teased.
“No, I’m saying it because you care about what you do,” he replied. “That’s rare.”
Harper looked away, a little shy at the compliment.
“I don’t know,” she said. “It’s just a silly dream.”
“It’s not silly,” Andrew said firmly. “And you should go after it.”
“With what money, Jack?” she sighed. “Dreams are expensive. I can barely pay rent.”

Andrew felt the weight of her words. That’s exactly how she saw him—an absent ghost.
And she wasn’t wrong.
“There has to be something I can do,” he said.
Harper turned to face him.

“Talk to the suppliers,” Andrew said. “Find out what the restaurant purchased in the last few weeks and compare it to what Harper bought on her own. If necessary, pay the suppliers to speak on her behalf.”
There was a pause.
“Sir, that would be bribery,” David said carefully.
“I know,” Andrew said, closing his eyes. “But it’s for the right reason.”
“If you’re sure…” David said slowly.
“I am,” Andrew replied. “Make it happen. And no one can know it was me.”
“Understood.”
Andrew hung up and looked out at the city again.
He was helping Harper. Yes.

“I need a strange favor,” Andrew said.
“I’m used to your strange favors, sir,” David replied with a hint of humor. “What’s the plan this time?”

“Is that a compliment?” he asked.
“I’m still deciding,” she replied.
She leaned out through the food truck window.
“But yes,” she said softly. “I forgive you.”
Andrew’s heart jumped.
“Really?” he asked. “Really?”
“But with one condition,” Harper added.
“Anything,” he said.
“If you want to be in my life,” she said, pointing at him, “you show up wearing an apron, not a suit. I want the Andrew who drops pans and messes up measurements. Not the billionaire stuck in offices.”
Andrew smiled, his expression softening.
“Deal,” he said. “Can I have an apron now?”
Harper laughed.
“Wait, what?” she said. “You said I need to come with an apron,” he replied.
He walked around the food truck and stepped in through the side door.
